As Singapore has entered the traditional dengue peak season from May to October, all six of our Active Ageing Centres (AACs) are stepping up efforts to protect our seniors. This initiative aligns with the National Dengue Prevention Campaign 2025, launched by the National Environment Agency (NEA), as rising temperatures accelerate the breeding cycle of Aedes mosquitoes and the replication of the dengue virus.
At the launch event held at Pasir Ris Sport Centre, Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, Dr Janil Puthucheary, called on the public to stay vigilant and take active steps to eradicate mosquito breeding sources. This message resonates deeply with our AACs, where senior wellbeing is our top priority.
Our seniors, especially those who may be more frail, are more vulnerable to the effects of dengue. Recognising this, our centres have committed to doing our part in the national effort. In collaboration with the NEA, we are undertaking several outreach and educational initiatives to raise awareness and minimise risk within the community:
- Display of campaign posters on noticeboards and other physical spaces
- Screening of dengue prevention videos across our digital TV platforms
- Organisation of dengue and Zika prevention talks for seniors and residents
- On-the-ground outreach efforts throughout our neighbourhoods during this dengue period

These simple yet meaningful actions reflect our H.I.P. care philosophy: supporting seniors to live Healthy, Interdependent and Purposeful lives. Keeping our seniors safe from preventable illnesses like dengue is essential for enabling them to age with dignity and vitality in the community.
We invite you to share this effort with others, as we continue to engage, equip and empower seniors during this critical season, by keeping our communities mosquito-free and our seniors protected.
