Presbyterian Community Social Services marks Golden Jubilee, prepares vocational training centre for youths with special needs (Lianhe Zaobao, 23 Jan 2026)
PCS Chairman Jonathan Kok announced at the organisation’s Golden Jubilee dinner on Friday (23 January) that the new centre is expected to commence operations in 2029. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong was the guest of honour at the dinner.
Aimed at addressing the so-called “post-18 cliff”, the Independent Living and Vocational Training Hub (ILTVH) seeks to help those in need acquire independent living skills, enhance job readiness and receive employment guidance.
The new centre will be located in Jurong West and will share the same premises as Grace Orchard School, a special education school. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2028. In future, the school and the centre will work more closely together through greater collaboration and integration, enabling more effective upstream interventions and creating synergies.
The dinner also featured an online auction of artworks by Grace Orchard School students. Proceeds raised will go towards supporting PCS’s mission and the preparation of the new centre.
Other guests present included Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Law and for Social and Family Development Eric Chua, West Coast-Jurong West GRC MP Ang Wei Neng, Jurong Central ward councillor Xie Yao Quan, and Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC MP Diana Pang.
