Bukit Timah grassroots organisations roll out monthly free shuttle service to help seniors shop with ease and socialise (Lianhe Zaobao, 4 Feb 2026)
Seniors living at Toh Yi Blk 21 shared that there is a rather steep slope right outside their homes, and the nearest supermarket is some distance away. Carrying heavy groceries home after shopping is therefore very strenuous for them. In response, Bukit Timah grassroots organisations have launched a monthly activity offering free transport for seniors, enabling them to purchase daily necessities more conveniently while also encouraging social interaction.
The Bukit Timah Citizens’ Consultative Committee, in partnership with the PCS Cedar Tree Active Ageing Centre, has from this month begun providing a return shuttle bus service on the first Wednesday of every month. The service takes seniors to Bukit Timah Plaza, where they can have their meals and shop at FairPrice Finest. Each trip lasts about two hours.
Residents who are interested in taking part can register at the PCS Cedar Tree Active Ageing Centre for details on the meeting time and location.
