On 14 and 21 October 2020, the Social Work and Counselling Department held a workshop for our Community Befriending Programme (CBP) Befrienders. The purpose of the workshop was to train befrienders to use the Early Detection and Intervention Toolkit (EDIT) which was launched earlier in May this year. EDIT is available on our website in English and Chinese.

The volunteers were given the choice of attending either online via Zoom or on-site at one of our Seniors Activity Centres, and either the Mandarin or English sessions.

In the workshop, our trainers introduced the three-step process of Detect, Probe and Respond (DPR), which guides befrienders in picking up signs of distress that their befriendees may be showing, to find out more about the situation, and to direct them to appropriate sources of help.
